What is Project MARS?
Project MARS is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded by high schoolers dedicated to empowering students to conduct meaningful scientific research online. We aim to foster curiosity, develop critical thinking and scientific communication skills, and advocate for the vital role of scientific research in society, including addressing the impact of research funding cuts.

Who can join Project MARS and participate in research pods?
Project MARS is open to passionate high school students from anywhere who are eager to explore scientific research. No prior research experience is required and the entire program is online. We provide the guidance and structure needed to conduct literature reviews, analyze data, and contribute to real-world understanding in various scientific fields.

What kind of research do students conduct with Project MARS?
Students in Project MARS can choose between 1 on 1 research mentorship or joining a research pod. To sign up for one-to-one sessions, go to our services page and sign up for a Zoom meeting; it’s free! Our Research pods engage in diverse online scientific research with groups of like-minded students, where they can network and learn. Research Pods conduct in-depth literature reviews and secondary data analysis. Our current focuses include Healthcare Equality, Biotechnology, and Health Sciences. We also support broader scientific interests.

How does Project MARS help students with their academic and career goals?
Project MARS offers students invaluable benefits for their future. Participants gain hands-on research experience, develop critical thinking and scientific writing skills, and receive documented volunteer hours for their contributions. Successful research can be published in the Project MARS online journal or external high school science journals, providing a significant credential for college applications and future careers in STEM and healthcare.

Is Project MARS affiliated with a school or university?
No, Project MARS is an independent 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. We were started by passionate high schoolers and operate autonomously, allowing us the flexibility to offer online research opportunities to students globally and partner with various institutions and experts in the broader scientific community.

Who is Project MARS Funding and how can I make an impact?
Project MARS is currently working to fund national research institutions imapacted by fderal research cuts. We aim to provide these organizations with monetary aid and relief through social events in the community and donations. We are in charge of an online campaign to spread awareness on the importance research has in our community, and other ways we can help. Check out our donations page for more information!
